Getting Involved

About Us

Theatre Passe Muraille (TPM) enters its 42nd Season in the proud tradition of developing and producing innovative and provocative Canadian Theatre, and nurturing new and established artists and companies.

Our Vision

TPM has a special interest in supporting and presenting independent artists and companies, emerging artists, collaborative and multidisciplinary work, culturally specific and inter-cultural work, and marginal voices.

TPM is devoted to encouraging, enhancing and increasing meaningful interactions between its communities – artists, staff, audience, neighbourhoods and supporters.

TPM develops, disseminates, produces, showcases and promotes locally, nationally and internationally, work that represents and forwards these values.

Venue

Theatre Passe Muraille resides in a historical heritage building in down town Toronto at 16 Ryerson Avenue – One block North of Queen Street and one block east of Bathurst Street. The building which was the former Naismith Bakery was acquired by TPM in 1976 after the huge success of the then controversial production of I Love You, Baby Blue.

The building was converted into two theatre spaces – the Mainspace, where the bakery was, and the Backspace, where the stables were for the delivery horses.

The Mainspace seats 180 people and the Backspace seats 55. Upstairs in the Mainspace there is an intimate bar for opening night receptions and other community gatherings.
